An Overview

This is an empathy and compassion based training in biodynamic craniosacral therapy. The new science of Interpersonal Neurobiology shows that the brain and heart have “mirror” neurons that constantly sense the feelings of another person in our presence. This training teaches the perceptual skills necessary to naturally become conscious of other’s feelings and for the therapist to recognize compassionate responses guiding the therapeutic relationship. Second, subtle palpation skills will be taught based on the work of W. G. Sutherland, the founder of cranial osteopathy, which he discovered at the end of his life. The long tide rhythm in the whole body and the stillpoint in its fluid systems will be the clinical focus for health and healing with clients. Numerous hand positions covering the whole body will be taught to rebalance the cardiovascular and nervous systems inside the muscles and bones. Finally, the term biodynamic refers to the movement of the long tide in the tissues and fluids present during prenatal development that is building, repairing and maintaining the body as a whole. This same movement is also present in the child and adult body. Participants will learn how the human body develops around slowness (the long tide) and stillness and the critical importance of connecting with these movements of wholeness in the contemporary client to restore order and organization.
