Level 2: Working with the Autonomic Nervous System
Level 2: Working with the Autonomic Nervous System
Taught By: Michael J. Shea, PhD. or Valerie Gora
The second module is where the metaphor of the human embryo begins to be worked with in earnest. It introduces the beginning of the therapeutic process called homeostasis. Homeostasis is the ability of the autonomic nervous system to achieve a state of balance and rest so that primary respiration can be an active participant in the deeper therapeutic process located in the fluid body.
Some information is presented on the development of the autonomic nervous system, especially in the mother-child relationship. The embryological focus of the second module is the whole first week of morphological development in the embryo. Morphology is the movement of shape through time. The gesture of conception, roundness, compression, rolling down the fallopian tube and the life or death transition at the end of the first week of development is covered both in meditations and table work.
Again, the focus is on the relationship of primary respiration to the dynamic stillness. The new paradigm of the therapeutic relationship being two interactive central nervous systems is introduced.
