Biodynamic
Craniosacral Therapy:
Volume Two
By
Michael J. Shea, PhD
From seasoned holistic healer Michael J. Shea,
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy: Volume
Two provides a thorough description of the evolution
of somatic and body-centered therapies into a new
form called biodynamic — a gentle, subtle form of
touch therapy. Michael Shea discusses the relationship of
trauma resolution, psychodynamics, and shamanism, and the reader is presented with practical
meditations, visualizations, and clinical skills to
facilitate healing physical, spiritual, and emotional
conditions. |
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy: Volume
Two discusses the meaning of biodynamic, and expands upon the concept and practice of
biodynamic craniosacral therapy, which is viewed as an art form that psychologists and health
care providers — especially those in the fields of manual therapy such as massage, chiropractic,
or physical therapy — can easily use. For the first time in any book, Shea presents skills based
on perceiving stillness as the fundamental healing influence for the mind and body. Slow
movement is considered to be the movement of health, wholeness, and well being in the human
body. Michael also elaborates upon the unique influence of human embryology for healing.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Volume Two presents many important new skills
for those who work with infants and children at any level, including midwifes and pediatricians,
and covers new information on infant brain development. For the first time in a book on manual
therapy, Shea describes the analogy of the infant-mother relationship to the patient-therapist
relationship.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Volume Two is well suited for holistic health care
providers as well as anyone interested in broadening their understanding of the world of noninvasive
healing therapies. Together, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Volume One
and Volume Two form a comprehensive reference that has been deemed the “Encyclopedia of
Craniosacral Therapy.”

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy: Volume One
By
Michael J. Shea, PhD
In his authoritative book, Biodynamic Craniosacral
Therapy, Volume One, author Michael J. Shea presents a
comprehensive view of the fascinating practice gaining hold in America.
Dubbed as a “compassionate healing art,” Shea shows how craniosacral
therapy — with its emphasis on moving the tension-filled fluids in the
membranes in and around the brain and spinal cord — helps the body to
decompress and release the stress caused by misdistribution of bodily
liquids.
Rooted in embryology and a deep belief in the causality between
the fluid-filled placenta and the fetus’s ultimate path in life, Shea
displays how craniosacral therapy is meant to “fix the womb” and
thereby allow one to be symbolically reborn well into one’s 50s, 60s,
70s, and beyond. This alternative form of therapy seeks to heal the core
problems of the spirit by treating the physical ailmentsof the body visà-
vis the adjustment of the body visà-
vis the adjustment of the central nervous system, effective as a preventative measure for infants or as a
corrective practice for ailing adults.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Volume One offers a sweeping view of craniosacral
therapy technique from its historical roots all the way to how this alternative method can heal attachment

treatment of the body that starts with the physical and moves to the psychological and emotional.
Full of illustrative and schematic diagrams, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, Volume
One offers clear visuals that assist in demonstrating the science behind the practice. Perfect as a
reference book for anyone looking for an all-inclusive view of this practice, Shea’s book offers a great
overview of how and why so many people are singing the praises of craniosacral therapy. |
